40+FABULOUS - Emma Krause
Lyric's Underground (Maylands, WA)
Thursday, 1 May 2025 7:00 pm
Emma Krause, the rising star of Perth's comedy scene, is making her Lyric's Underground debut after being named Best Solo Performance by Broadway Perth and being the WA Comedy winner in 2024. Following the success of her debut show, 40+Fabulous, Krause continues to captivate audiences with her blend of humour, insight, and empowerment, creating an unforgettable experience that resonates with women of all ages.
Krause’s 40+Fabulous is more than just a comedy show—it's a source of inspiration. Praised for its relatability and unapologetic authenticity, the show chronicles her journey as a modern woman, embracing the joys and challenges of life after 40. Audiences have been thrilled by her candid and hilarious take on everything from juggling family life to embracing self-love.
A former teacher who ventured into stand-up comedy at the age of 40, Krause has quickly become one of Perth's most exciting performers. From a finalist on Australia's Got Talent in 2019 to starring in the Oz Lotto Lotteree commercials, Krause’s rise has been meteoric. Her latest recognition—Best Solo Performance at Broadway Perth—only further cements her place in the comedy world.
Reflecting on her success, Krause humbly shares, “I feel more like an everyday mum than a stand-up comedian. The women in my audience often tell me how relatable my material is. I tell them it's because I'm right there in the trenches with them! Comedy has been my way of finding my voice, and now it's about using it to represent the women who've supported me.”
Krause’s journey into comedy was sparked by a desire to overcome a fear of public speaking. A pivotal moment came when John McAllister, Director of the Comedy Lounge, encouraged her to keep going after her first show. "He told me that half of his audiences were women, and they needed a voice to speak on their behalf. That conversation has stayed with me ever since."
Now, Krause is back for Fringe World 2025 with an encore performance that promises to deliver more laughter, inspiration, and connection. Don't miss the chance to see this award-winning performer as she continues to bring the voices of women to the stage with humour and heart.
About Emma Krause After turning 40, Emma burst onto the Perth comedy scene in 2017, making her way to two State RAW Comedy Grand Finals. In 2019, she became a finalist in Channel Seven’s Australia’s Got Talent, launching her career in comedy.
Known for her role as Sue Finley in the Oz Lotto ads, Emma also toured nationally with the comedy trio The Motherhood, delighting audiences across the country.
In 2024, she debuted her first solo show 40+FABULOUS at Fringe World Perth, delivering an extraordinary 22-show run that sold out completely. Her standout performance earned her two prestigious awards, including WA’s Best Comedy. Riding on this success, she toured the show to sold-out audiences across WA, solidifying her status as a powerhouse in the comedy scene and being awarded WA’s Silver Comedy Doustie Award. In 2025, her show received further acclaim when Broadway Perth announced it as the overall winner for Best performance by a Solo Artist.
Emma now combines her comedic talent and life experience to empower women to step into their spotlight, embrace their authenticity, and create lives that truly shine.
About her FRINGE WORLD show “40+Fabulous”
What's the secret to a FABULOUS life?
For years, Emma Krause thought it was smiling sweetly, appeasing others, meeting demands and doing the "right" thing.
Yeah. That sh*t doesn’t work.
Secretly, the school teacher and mum wanted to try stand-up comedy, but she never felt brave or “rock n roll” enough. What would happen when she got on stage and people saw that long swishing tail she hid so well? What would the school P&C and the Tupperware ladies think?
Seven years into comedy, Emma no longer cares. Actually, her scales and horns are out now too. And that feels bloody fabulous to her.
A show about fears, limits, unsolicited advice and where all that can be shoved. For anyone needing more self-love, laughter, or a sign to tell them their weird, quirky light needs to shine a little more.
