Eastwinds
If Australian multiculturalism has a name in music, that name might well be Eastwinds. A six-piece band with members from far-flung corners of the globe - Estonia, Iran, Japan, the UK and Australia, Eastwinds play a tapestry of sounds from old and new worlds. They draw on traditions from Scandinavia to the Balkans through to the Middle East, all driven by masterful woodwind playing, a keen sense of improvisation and the underlying pulse of didgeridoo.
Call it world music, Scandi-Iranian-Balto-Klezmer or just call it a new geography of sound…there’s really nothing quite like Eastwinds in Australia
